These Rules form part of the Terms of Service.
1. What this service is for
In one line: it reads, for you, videos you could already watch — and audio you
are entitled to process.
Vidleaf processes subtitles the video platform already publishes, the audio
of videos you are entitled to access, or audio files you upload and are entitled
to process. The output is for your own study, research
and reference.
2. Permitted
Processing publicly accessible videos, or videos you own or are entitled to access.
Uploading audio you recorded yourself, or for which you already have the
consent or authorisation of those involved, to have it transcribed.
Reading, translating, summarising, searching and annotating them for personal
study, research, note-taking and reference.
Exporting your own reading output — subtitles, translations, summaries, your
labels — for personal use.
3. Prohibited
Bulk scraping: submitting links by script or at scale, or circumventing
quota and concurrency limits by any means.
Republishing and redistribution: publishing, selling or redistributing
subtitles, translations or summaries produced here, or using them as a content
source. Machine transcription does not change who owns the original.
Feeding datasets: using the output to train or fine-tune models, or packaging
it as a dataset for sale.
Circumventing restrictions: processing videos behind a paywall, inside a
region restriction, or requiring authorisation to access.
Other people's private content: processing or uploading private
recordings, video or meeting records without the consent of those involved.
This matters most on the upload path — upload only audio you recorded yourself
or are authorised to use. Someone else's call, class, meeting or interview must
not be uploaded without the consent of those involved.
Unlawful or infringing content: content prohibited by law, or content you
know infringes another's rights.
Account sharing and proxy submission: renting, transferring or sharing an
account, or submitting in bulk on someone else's behalf. Quota is granted to you
personally; it is not transferable capacity.
4. Consequences
Depending on the case: the account is disabled, the related data is deleted, and
the videos involved are blacklisted. For bulk scraping and redistribution we
disable the account without a prior warning.
5. Reporting
If you find someone using Vidleaf to do any of the above, or you are a rights
holder seeking removal, email copyright@vidleaf.app with the video
link and an explanation. The takedown process is in Terms §12.
